Hopewell proposes to shift the focus of theological education from a preparation of individual students for ministry to the cognitive and characterological development of local congregations. Such education would focus on the context, identity and tasks of particular embodied communities, and would unite congregation and seminary in a mutually rewarding and self-critical enterprise. (RG)
