Reaching Out to Young Adults

Reaching Out to Young Adults. RENEW 2000 and Beyond. New York: Paulist Press, 1997.

As a resource for use within the RENEW 2000 experience, Reaching Out to Young Adults provides information and strategies aimed at understanding today’s young adults and attracting them to participate in the life of the church through involvement in parish-based small Christian communities. The book is the result of a conversation among 30 prominent persons—more than half between the ages of 18 and 40—on today’s young adult experience in church and society. It contains information on the characteristics of young adults today, their needs and gifts, ideas for recruiting young adults as leaders and participants in the RENEW 2000 process, and establishing a permanent young adult ministry. The book’s appendices contain principles for ministry among young adults, outreach strategies to parents of first communicants, small Christian community resources, and more.
