At the request of Robert Lynn of the Lilly Endowment, Gustafson spent several months reading literature in theological education spanning thirty years, and catalogues what he sees as its internal and contextual aspects, and its ailments. He also outlines ten perspectives on theological education active during this period, as well as some pervasive themes. He concludes with observations about religious studies and theological education, and unity and diversity in theological education. (RG)
