Looking at the teaching office of the church in terms of authority, Hough notes the lack of a sustaining vision of the church as a problem for theological education. Churches often reject critical thinking, leading to a lack of credibility for theologians. Theological educators need to develop, therefore, a corporate vision of the church toward which they reach in order to form a basis for teaching authority. (RG)
