Research for a Theological Faculty

Cobb, John B., Jr., "Research for a Theological Faculty," Theological Education 26 (Spring, 1990): 86-105.

Addressing what is distinctive about the research appropriate to theological faculties, Cobb judges research oriented toward the university, church, and society as necessary but inadequate. It is more important to focus on issues of personal rather than merely academic or public interest. Viewing the world from God's perspective is the work of theology -- and should become more fundamentally the work of theological research if it is to address the needs of the world. (RG)
