Theological Education as Character Formation

Meye, Robert P. "Theological Education as Character Formation," Theological Education 24, Supplement 1 (1988): 96- 126.

If the "art" of forming Christian character marked by love, joy, and peace -- the "fruit of the spirit" -- is to bring persons to that place where there is symbiosis of inward and outward reality, then Meye argues we must look to the larger framework of the Church in thinking about theological education as character formation. The schools are entrusted with students by churches and Meye suggests a stronger relationship between school and church as the locus of formation for all Christians. (RG)
