Reflecting on his experience in a levantado del niño celebration as a parishioner of San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas, Timothy Matovina outlines five commonalities in Latino/a theologies which represent the vital faith of Hispanic believers and serve as important themes for Latinos and non-Latinos alike. These are: (1) Worship and Theology; (2) Scripture and Theology; (3) Social Analysis; (4) Liberation; and (5) Passion. Matovina concludes that dialogue with Latino/a theologians and Hispanic faithful, both Catholic and Protestant, enriches non-Hispanic faith and illuminates aspects of the gospel other believers may have forgotten or missed.
