This grant enabled Wade Clark Roof of the University of California, Santa Barbara to complete an earlier study on religious beliefs and life choices of contemporary Americans. Wade had focused on the Baby Boom generation, analyzing its church membership patterns; additionally, he also sought to understand how Americans perceive the relationship between work, family, and religion. Based on extensive in-depth interviews with about hundred additional participants, and the outcome of the earlier study, Wade published his conclusion in a book titled “Work, Family, and Religion” edited by Nancy T. Ammerman and himself (Routledge, 1995).
