Michael Carotta developed and field tested a skills-based religion education program for "mainstream" Catholic adolescents. It is built on the premise that there are certain skills that-- along with religious formation--can help adolescents grow in their relationship with God, others, and themselves. A planning team, led by Carotta, described knowledge, skills, and behaviors to be developed, tested a pilot program in five Catholic high schools and ten parishes, and prepared for national distribution a Catholic religious education program that would teach youth about prayer, decision making, and other life skills in a Christian context.
