David Maldonado led the Southern Methodist University study of Hispanic Christianity within mainline Protestant traditions in the United States. He recruited scholars from a variety of disciplines who participated in biannual seminars in which members presented materials and discussed issues. Maldonado compiled the fruit of those discussions into a book, "Protestantes/Protestants: Hispanic Christianity within Mainline Traditions" as an offering to the Latino/Latina Protestant community. The aim of the seminars was to examine experience, and theologize in community.
