This planning grant enabled Stewart M. Hoover and associates of the University of Colorado to plan for research on how changes in contemporary religion, culture, and the media have influenced the formation and continuity of patterns of meaning, identity, and behavior in contemporary life. Through ethnographic observations of media use in actual homes and qualitative interviews with select individuals from diverse background across geographical areas, Hoover and associates laid out a framework of the plan to implement the larger research on the effects of religion and media on individuals and families (grant # 961985).
