Project Number:
Start Date:

End Date:

Don S. Browning of the University of Chicago Divinity School led a team of scholars in this planning grant study to explore ways in which religious institutions can best address the major issues that contemporary families face. The team consisted of scholars from the fields of theological ethics, sociology, social philosophy, family law, family therapy, and other related fields. Browning viewed the project as an exercise in practical theology blending descriptive perspectives on families with critical normative perspectives that are open to the contributions of the western religious traditions.
