In cooperation with the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries, David A. Roozen and associates of Hartford Seminary developed ten case studies of urban churches in the metropolitan area of Hartford, Connecticut. These studies were developed in order to aid congregational practices of relating to and influencing their urban environment. The Hartford research team focused on the unique role that certain congregations have with public life by analyzing key elements of their ministry in the Hartford area. The result of the team’s detailed research yielded a book on the subject including study material and innovative methods for congregations that desire to be more effective servants in an urban environment.
