End Date:

With the cooperation of Hope College, Donald Luidens and Roger Nemeth conducted a major research project that brought together data to study trends in the Reformed Church in America (RCA) during the past fifty years. Luidens and Nemeth examined changes in denominational identity, commitment, and financial support of members. They emphasized the sources of denominational loyalty by utilizing four separate data bases that tested theories of individual choice, congregational transition, and neighborhood characteristics as determinants of church growth and decline. After their research was complete, Luidens and Nemeth conducted a three-day conference of the RCA leaders.
