Project Number:
Start Date:
Mon, 01/01/1990
End Date:
Tue, 12/31/1991

Continuing previous work on communications technology and theological education at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, this project developed in several new directions with the support of Gregor Goethals, an expert in understanding the relation between religious communication and modern technology. Activities undertaken during the grant period included: development of seminars and workshops to explore the theory and practice and teaching of mass communications; preparation of faculty at the seminary to create a major resource center for other seminaries in understanding modern technology; and establishment of an appropriate library of visual materials and other resources necessary to support this new approach to teaching. The school developed a new curriculum addressing the impact of communication technology on the ministry. Newell Wert, academic dean at United, served as project coordinator. (KA)
