Organizational Planning Project

Project Number:

The Ecumenical Center for Stewardship Studies (ECSS) expanded to incorporate much of the work of the dissolved National Council of Churches Commission on Stewardship. This grant supported consultant's fees and travel costs of the ECSS Planning Committee as they considered the center's mission; more specifically, they examined opportunities for institutional development, considered scenarios for future ecumenical stewardship ministry, and developed effective organizational structures for ecumenical ministry. This planning group worked to determine the most effective way to implement this mission, including recommendations on the size and composition of the center's board, as well as the center's committee structure, programs, staffing, relationship with other ecumenical and denominational agencies, and different sources of funding support. The ECSS Board decided to locate the new agency in Indianapolis where it can develop relationships with the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, Christian Theological Seminary, Saint Meinrad Seminary, and the national headquarters of the Disciples of Christ.
