The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley’s Enhanced Contextual Ministry Program developed collaboration between the laity and the ordained in the practice of ministry; provided training in culturally contextualized ministry; and enabled conscientization to the deep spiritual needs of the inner-city residents. The impoverished neighborhoods of the West Oakland in the diocese of Oakland, California provided the multicultural context for the implementation of this program.
